Common questions

Which written tests do I need for a Class B CDL?

Everyone takes General Knowledge. Class B usually adds Air Brakes, if the vehicle you will drive has air brakes. Add a test for each endorsement you want, like Passenger for a bus.

What can I drive with a Class B CDL?

Single vehicles over 26,000 lbs, like dump trucks, box trucks and many buses. You may tow a trailer of 10,000 lbs or less.

Is the Class B test easier than Class A?

It has fewer tests, because there is no Combination Vehicles test. The General Knowledge and Air Brakes tests are the same.

Do I need the Air Brakes test for Class B?

If you will take your skills test in a vehicle with air brakes, yes. Otherwise your license gets an air brake restriction.
